Monistrol, is the most well-connected town of Montserrat.

This is the starting point to get the most visited area of ​​the mountain where the Abbey is located.

The railway (FGC) connects Monistrol with the center of Barcelona with a train every half hour, from the station is possible to change to the rack railway that leads to Montserrat, is possible also go up the mountain through the “Aeri de Montserrat” the peculiar Yellow cable car from which we can enjoy spectacular views of the mountain and the Llobregat river valley.

Once In Monistrol we can visit the exhibition of the rack railway or the hermitage of Sant Antolí but without a doubt the best thing is to walk through the town discovering places such as the “plaça porxada del Bo-bo”, the “plaça de la Font gran” or the “passeig de la Canaleta ”.

How to get to Monistrol

By Car

From Barcelona you can get there by the C-55 or the C-58 Roads. On the C-58 you have to be attentive at the Montserrat signal.

By Train

By the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC) taking the R5 Llobregat-Anoia stops at 2 different stations:

  • Estación Monistrol-Aèri –Correspondence with funicular to the Abbey of Montserrat
  • Estación Monistrol-Enllaç – Correspondence with the Rack railway to Montserrat Abbey
